Tanzanite
Tanzanite is a rare vivid blue-violet colored gemstone discovered in 1967 at the foot of Tanzania’s Mount Kilaminjaro. Tanzanite is a part of the zoisite family and can attribute its beautiful blue color to heat treatment, turning brown zoisite into its attractive blues and violets. This color is stable and accepted in the gem trade.
This large oval gem has exceptional color, and its inclusions are intriguing. The contrast of its smooth finish with visible inclusions is what makes this stone interesting and one of a kind. It would be most beautifully displayed as a pendant wrapped in high karat gold 22k bezel with a simple granulated bail.
Tanzanite is said to strengthen the immune system, detoxify the body and improve vitality. Also the birthstone for December along with turquoise and blue zircon.
