Opals display a phenomenon known as "Play of color" where light reflects off of tiny spheres within the opal and bounces back as a party of color and light. About the Gemstone
These Ethiopian Opals were custom cut especially for this design from larger opal cabochons in order to have a strong saturation of color and play of color. The hight of the bullet cabochon maintains the play of color found in larger opals.
Opals display a phenomenon known as "play of color" where light reflects off of tiny spheres within the opal and bounce back as a party of color and light.
They have a Moh's scale hardness of 5 and should be handled with care. When storing opals, please be sure they do not bang against any other stone or jewelry to avoid scratches.
