About the Gemstone
Opals display a phenomenon known as "play of color" where light reflects off of tiny spheres within the opal and bounce back as a party of color and light. These beads are cut in a flat round shape called 'heishi".
Opal has a Moh's scale hardness of 5 and should be handled with care. When storing opals, it is best to store them away from anything that can scratch the opal.
