Jewelry For A Cause: Supporting Victims of the LA Wildfires

Sunset behind palm trees with the LA cityscape on the left. Text reads "JEWELRY FOR A CAUSE," conveying a calm and purposeful mood.

When tragedy strikes, it’s remarkable how communities come together, weaving bonds of hope and generosity. At Mejia Jewelry, I’ve always believed in creating pieces that carry meaning and purpose. That’s why I’m deeply committed to supporting victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires through thoughtful initiatives that marry the beauty of jewelry with the power of giving back.

Jewelers Unite: A Collective Effort for SoCal Fire Relief

Close-up of a beaded opal necklace with pink, black, and gray circular stones on a white background. Silver fishhook clasp is visible.

I’ve joined a special collaboration called Jewelers Unite, a heartfelt initiative launched by Beth Yorn of Elisabeth Bell Jewelry, Kayla Rose of Roseark, and Brooke Borisoff of The Tray. This incredible partnership brings together over 65 jewelry designers and retailers, all dedicated to raising funds for wildfire victims.

I’ve chosen to donate a truly special piece to their auction: an Opal Bead Necklace featuring sandy-colored opals. These gems evoke California’s stunning beaches and the laid-back vibe I’ve always admired. This necklace is more than just jewelry; it’s a symbol of resilience and hope, designed to remind us of the beauty that endures even in challenging times.

100% of the sale of this necklace will be donated to the SoCal Fire Fund, an organization dedicated to both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. The fund prioritizes equitable recovery by providing flexible resources to support vulnerable communities, including students, school employees, and families affected by the January 2025 fires

.

If you’re interested in making a difference while owning a piece of meaningful jewelry, visit charitybuzz.com to bid on this necklace and explore other stunning pieces from the auction. Together, we can help rebuild lives and restore hope in affected communities. The auction opens on 1/24 and runs for two weeks.

Linked: A Collaboration with The Stay Gold Collective

Collaboration has always been at the heart of meaningful change. That’s why I’ve partnered with the Stay Gold Collective, started by Liz Kantner, on a charity initiative called "Linked". This project celebrates the connections we form when we come together in unity and collaboration.

As part of this initiative, I’ve designed a Gold Horseshoe Charm with a Knot Link, a piece that symbolizes luck, strength, and unbreakable bonds. It’s available for purchase on LizKantner.com, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the LAFD Foundation and Mutual Aid LA. These organizations provide critical support to those impacted by the wildfires, from first responders on the front lines to community members in need.

“Linked” features over 30 charms crafted by independent artists across the U.S. and beyond. It’s a celebration of the power of community, highlighting the beauty that emerges when we prioritize connection over division. By purchasing a charm, you’re not only adding a meaningful piece to your collection but also playing a part in supporting relief efforts for those affected by these devastating fires.

Gemstone Stud Earrings: A Tribute to LA’s Vibrant Spirit

When I think of Los Angeles, I envision its vibrant colors—the lush greens of tropical foliage and the calming blues of the Pacific Ocean. This inspiration led to the selection of two gemstone stud earrings: one featuring vivid iolite and the other showcasing verdant chrysoprase. These earrings capture the city’s dynamic beauty while serving a deeper purpose.

Every purchase helps these incredible organizations continue their vital work, from saving lives to feeding those in need. These earrings are more than just an accessory—they’re a way to channel the beauty of LA into meaningful action.

Why Giving Back Matters

For me, jewelry has always been about more than adornment. It’s about storytelling, connection, and impact. The LA wildfires have left countless families, animals, and communities in need of support, and I’m honored to play a part in helping them rebuild.

Through initiatives like Jewelers UniteLinked, and the sale of the iolite and chrysoprase stud earrings, I’m committed to making a tangible difference. These efforts represent a small but meaningful way to give back to a community that has given so much inspiration to the world.

How You Can Help
